General Use Cases
Cost Optimization for Analysis Applications
Reducing the license costs and data processing expenses of analysis applications. Many data analysis applications worldwide base their licensing model on the volume of data received by their applications. Therefore, reducing the volume of incoming data has never been a motivation for those developing these applications. With Kron TP, it is anticipated that by reducing insignificant and repetitive data through user-defined filters before reaching data analysis resources, both license costs and the size of data required for these applications to operate will decrease proportionally, along with increased CPU and high I/O speed disk costs.
Unified Data Collection for Target Applications
Collecting the data needed by many target applications through a single agent to reduce agent management costs and decrease the load and traffic generated by agents on the server. The need for different agents to be installed for each data source for each analysis and storage point can be eliminated with data deduplication features. This not only reduces traffic and load on devices but also lowers operational costs for agent management.
Data Formatting and Standardization
Formatting data appropriately for the target system to enhance efficiency and standardizing logs Many sources name different pieces of information in data differently, and many target applications require data in different formats. Therefore, specialized agent applications are often deployed on end systems to transmit data in their own formats. With Kron TP's data shaping capabilities, changes to the format of the data can allow it to be transmitted from a single source to multiple sources in the format each source requires. Improving data format compatibility enhances efficiency in target systems, making logs more consistent and easily understandable.
Metric Extraction for Monitoring Systems Commonly used monitoring applications typically store data in metric format in "time series" databases, with Prometheus being a widespread example. Log data often contains important information that can be stored as metrics. Generating metrics during data flow from log data will be particularly beneficial in various areas, such as Kubernetes monitoring. It helps prevent data losses (buffering and backpressure handling) during data transfer.
Ensuring Data Flow Security and Loss Prevention
When target systems do not respond for various reasons, managing the pressure that will build towards the endpoint is crucial. Otherwise, data may be lost or the resource requirements of end systems may increase. With the memory or disk buffers that Kron TP will have, pressure in similar situations will be managed on Kron TP rather than at the endpoint. Additionally, the ability to mask personal information from the data is a desired security feature.
Efficient Data Storage and Recovery
Through adapters developed by Kron, the ability to revive data when needed from environments designed for long-term storage will make long-term storage spaces more usable. Storing critical data for short periods in analysis applications and keeping unchanged long-term data (text data, CSV, etc.) in inexpensive storage environments will significantly reduce data storage costs.
PII Data Masking for Security and Privacy
Data masking, particularly on personally identifiable information (PII), is a crucial aspect of data security and privacy. With telemetry pipene solution, data can be masked before it gets stored.
