Adding a Database as a Device
The target database is configured as a device:
- Navigate to Device Management > Device Inventory menu.
- Click the New Device Discovery button.
- Enter the IP address, port (if not set, the default port is used according to the access protocol), and the access protocol, and select the Device Group for the assigned device should be in.
- Click the Discover and Add button.

The port number is the identifier of the connection to ORACLE, MSSQL, MySQL Cassandra, Teradata, Hive, PostgreSQL, and DB2 via a Kron PAM SQL Proxy. The port number must be defined in the Device Properties of the MSSQL, MySQL Cassandra, Teradata, Hive, PostgreSQL, DB2, SAP Hana, and Couchbase databases.
The following system configuration parameter should be set for the port assignment option:
- Navigate to Administration > System Config Man.
- Set the sql.proxy.bind.port.range parameter with the requested port range.
Parameter Name | Parameter Value |
---|---|
sql.proxy.bind.port.range | Port range (e.g. 6000-7000) |
Entering the database credential information.
- Navigate to Device Management > Device Inventory.
- Right-click the defined database device and select Show Properties.
- Input properties of this database, including: db.name, db.username, db.password, sql.proxy.bind.port
- Click the Auto Assign button.

The username and password are the same as the user credentials used to directly connect to the database. The username must be defined as a user in Kron PAM, and realms must be created for connection and policy enforcement by a system Admin.
