Defining a Global Username and Global Password for the Linux Server

There are different ways to connect to a device via Kron PAM. Defining the username and password of the Linux server is one of the ways a Kron PAM admin user can accomplish it. By doing this, Kron PAM privileged users will not know the Linux server’s password, and they can only reach the server over Kron PAM. This step’s purpose is to prevent password sharing and to keep a record of all the logs of connected users. Global usernames and passwords are local user credentials that are already in usage for the Linux device.

To define the global username and password for the Linux device:

  1. Navigate to Devices > Inventory and go to the Devices tab.
  2. Click the options button of the device group that contains the Linux Server and then click on Edit.
  3. Skip to the properties section. Inside of direct credentials, there are Username and Password fields. a. Enter the username of the Linux Server User into the input section. b. Enter the password of the Linux Server User into the input section.
  4. Save.
