Symbolic Link Support
A symbolic link (symlink) is a special type of file that points to another file or directory. Instead of storing the actual file content, a symbolic link contains a path reference to another location. When you access a symbolic link, the system redirects you to the target file or directory.
Symbolic links are useful for:
· Simplifying access to files in deeply nested directories
· Creating alternative names for files or directories
· Organizing file structures without duplicating content
· Maintaining backward compatibility when file locations change
Why Symbolic Link Support Matters
With symbolic link support enabled, users can seamlessly access files and directories through shortcuts without encountering connection issues or transfer failures. This feature simplifies navigation and improves productivity when working with complex file structures on devices.
How Symbolic Link Support Works
The SFTP Proxy resolves symbolic links by identifying the link and providing access to the target file or directory. When a symbolic link target cannot be accessed, the proxy reports the error to the client, allowing you to understand and resolve the issue.
Enable Symbolic Link Support for MobaXterm
To enable symbolic link support for MobaXterm clients, follow these steps:
1. Open the configuration file with a text editor.
vi conf/nsso.properties |
|---|
2. Find the line that contains symbolic link configuration or add it if it does not exist. Scroll through the file using the arrow keys or search for an existing nsso.sftp entry.
3. Add the following line to the file:
nsso.sftp.protocol.version=3 |
|---|
4. Save the file and exit the editor. Press Esc to enter command mode, then type :wq and press Enter.
5. Restart the Kron PAM service for the configuration to take effect.
systemctl restart pam-sftp.service |
|---|
Devices running OpenSSH speak SFTP protocol version 3, so configuring the proxy to use version 3 does not impact functionality with devices.
