Claude Desktop reads its MCP definitions from the claude\_desktop\_config.json file, which uses the JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format.

### Opening the Configuration File

Open the file through the application:

1.    Open Claude Desktop.

2.    Navigate to **Settings** > **Developer**.

3.    In the **Local MCP servers** section, click the **Edit Config** button. Claude Desktop opens claude\_desktop\_config.json.

As an alternative, open the file directly from the file system:

%APPDATA%\Claude\claude\_desktop\_config.json

### Adding the MCP Server Definition

Add the following definition to the file. When the file is empty, add the entire structure. When the file already contains an mcpServers block, add only the KronPAMServer entry:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "KronPAMServer": {
      "command": "npx.cmd",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://KronPAM_IP_Address:18443/mcp",
        "--transport",
        "http-only",
        "--header",
        "Authorization: Bearer ${MCP_BEARER_TOKEN}"
      ],
      "env": {
        "MCP_BEARER_TOKEN": "TOKEN"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

### Saving and Verifying the Definition

To apply and verify the definition:

1.    Save and close the file.

2.    Quit Claude Desktop completely, then start it again.

3.    Navigate to **Settings** > **Developer** > **Local MCP servers** and check the *KronPAMServer* entry. The server appears as connected when the connection succeeds.
